Tom Price was well-known in the West Tennessee area as an outstanding performer and teacher. Tom began teaching guitar in Jackson during the Nixon administration and over the years he taught countless numbers to play. He was a graduate of Lambuth College where he was an adjunct music faculty member teaching classical guitar and was the conductor of the Lambuth University Guitar Ensemble. He held a degree in guitar performance and also a degree in music education. He studied with the distinguished guitarist John Johns, artist-teacher at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. Tom was associated with the Tennessee Arts Commission Touring Program. As accompanist for Jackson Folk singer “Bull” Durham Tom performed on the PBS television series “Austin City Limits”. Tom performed frequently in the West Tennessee area. He regularly entertained groups both large and small from black tie to blue jeans with equal versatility. Tom had 4 recordings to his credit: “Little Bunny Foo Foo”, “Court Alley Re-visited”, “Eclectic Sonata”, “Folk Songs of the Davis Wizard House”.
